  • SESSION ONE: Western Sydney Sound meets the Sounds of Chennai.

    1. In Search of The Western Sydney Sound: Short Documentary premiere - Sydney.

    Documents Cultural Arts Collective’s work in the pursuit of an inclusive new sound for contemporary Australian Music. Stories, Film clips and Featuring:

    Worlds Collide, Sydney World Music Chamber Orchestra, Blue Mary, Shohrat Tursun Trio, Sydney Sacred Music Festival, Alissar Chidiac (Arab Studio Theatre), Paul Mason (Australia Council of the Arts) and Robert Love (Riverside Theatres).

    2. Ostracised Guardian – India

    The Ostracised Guardian is a musical performance that fuses ancient Kuladevata rituals with modern electronic music, directed by India's foremost music producer Tenma and performed by Gaana Muthu. Showcasing the forgotten collective consciousness of Indian villages to the world.

    BROKEN HILL: Aimee Volkofsky & Alexandra Rosenblum

    Join weavers of word and song magic Aimee Volkofsky and Alexandra Isobella for an evening of story through song.

    Come join them as they sing tales of holy goats, telepathic horses, and an ancient river, witches, monsters, and metaphoric immolation.

    QUEANBEYAN: Jerikye

    Jerikye is a Wiradjuri man, born in Cowra and living on Ngambri/Ngunnawal land. Jerikye was born with a guitar in his hand and a great love for 1950’s and 60’s rock’n roll. At 20, he embodies the spirit of great artists with effortless musicianship and charisma. A natural showman, he lights up any stage, whether performing classics or his own original songs.     MELBOURNE AND INDIA: Hindustani Music Collective

    The Hindustani Music Collective is a not-for-profit organisation formed in Melbourne in early 2022 by a group of musicians, students, scholars, and educated listeners of Hindustani music with members based in Australia, Asia and Europe.

    Dedicated to deepening our knowledge of Hindustani music practice, its history, and diverse cultures.

  • SESSION THREE: Brisbane, Melbourne, Canberra

    BRISBANE: Gosti

    Beier, Griffin and Pollak perform new original compositions inspired by musical traditions from further east than Vienna, with a repertoire that is both composed and improvised. In partnerhsip with BEMAC

    MELBOURNE: Zourouna (pictured)

    Zourouna plays music from the Mediterranean and the Middle East. Four artists whose heritage lies in that part of the world play Syrian, Turkish, Greek, Israeli and Lebanese contemporary and traditional tunes for listening, dancing and enjoying. In partnership with The Boite.

    CANBERRA: Ensemble of the Eternal Land

    Anna McDonald and her husband Malek Mohammadi Nejad, explore cultural intersections between Iran and the west through their original compositions. Their debut CD Karavan Kosh, for Iranian kamancheh and setar, was recently released. In partnership with Australian National University.
